Obituary for Brent McKay

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

On Sunday, April 23, 2017, known as Divine Mercy Sunday, Cancer shortened Brent`s life but it could not crush his indomitable spirit, shake his faith or diminish in any way his love for God. Brent`s energy and essence lives on in the people he so proudly shared his love of music with through our store Academy of Music/Music Centre. He lived his life with gratitude, compassion and courage. Brent was the son of the late Charles (Duke) McKay (1993) and the late Bernice McKay (1994). Beloved husband and business partner of Anita (Rockx) McKay. Dearly loved Dad of, Lee-Anne (Lindsay) Lester, Joshua McKay and Lisa McKay. Adored Papa to his 3 granddaughters, Emily, Hanna and Kallie Lester. Brother of the late Barbara Ann Roberts (2012) and Ken and Brian McKay
Dearly loved brother in law to Margaret and Pat Lee, Mary Lou and Leeroy Armstrong, Nancy and Ray John, Wayne and Carol Rockx, Theresa and Dave Woolley, and Linda McKay.
Special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Also survived by his mother in law, Nellie Rockx. Dearest friend of many who came to his side from the time of his diagnosis. Predeceased by his father in law, Adrian Rockx (2002) and his sister in laws Patricia Rockx (2011) and Lee McKay (2012).
Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. There will be a Knights of Columbus Service held Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial for Brent will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Tillsonburg, on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Tom Ferrera officiating. Interment will follow in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the McKay family asks your kind consideration of donations to Thoracic Care, LHSC, St Mary's Church Building Fund, or VON-Sakura House.
Brent's family are extremely grateful for the Care by Dr. Dalilah Fortin of LHSC-Thoracics, and the special CCAC nurses who assisted in fulfilling his final wish to die at home surrounded by so much love, of family and friends.
