Condolence From: Steven and Gloria Welton
Condolence: Dear family, it is hard to find words at such a shocking time but turning to scripture is where comfort is found. Isaiah 43:20 "I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My people, My chosen." God does not promise to keep us out of the wilderness or away from the desert but He does promise believers that He will sustain us and keep us when the hard times hit. We know He is with you all carrying you, with His ever loving arms wrapped around you. We will continue to pray. Love from your Church family on PEI.

Condolence From: Rob & Beth Roundell
Condolence: Dear Pastor Mark and Barb: My mother heart has been aching for your family since we heard of Nathan's passing. We have always been glad of the time that you ministered with us. And especially for the friendship that Nathan and Benjamin shared together. They sure were busy boys, they packed a lot into the time that God allowed them to be together. Nathan was clear in those days too, that he felt led to serve the Lord in ministry and mentioned it more than once. Nathan was faithful to his calling, started young, and was planning to continue. God was pleased with Nathan's efforts for Him and taken him to heaven. A shorter ministry than we might have thought but it pleased God. We pray that God will bless you with comfort and strength in these days ahead.

Condolence From: Derek Thompson
Condolence: I was a friend of Nathan's in high school at Charlottetown Rural. He and I had many laughs on the Rugby field & I was very upset when I heard the news of his passing. Nathan was a very kind person, though ferocious on the field, and quick to smile as well as laugh. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose such a special person from the family at such a young age. He was an amazing person, with a kind and gentle heart that is often too few and far between in life. Nathan will be dearly missed and my heart goes out to his family and loved ones. Nathan is being thought of on P.E.I my friends and I are saddened by the loss.

Condolence From: David Barker
Condolence: Dear Mark and Barbara: The sense of grief and loss must be overwhelming. We have the psalms to give us voice, and Psalm 13 is one of the most poignant. C. S. Lewis wrote when Joy died, "Her death is like the sky, covering everything." I am sure that describes your pain now. May you sense the care and comfort of our Saviour as you enter his throne-room in tears and hope. In care and prayer, Dave Barker

Condolence From: Jonathan & Melissa, Andrew, Jaydon & Abigail Ward
Condolence: Our deepest condolences to both Sarah and her family and the Barretts. We are saddened to not be able to be with everyone for Sunday and Monday's proceedings but please know of our love and prayers. How Job uttered the words, “The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord,” I cannot really understand. In a moment when his world was crashing in, in his tragedy Job chose to give the glory to God. From the moment I heard of Nathan’s passing, these words were a constant reminder from God. Would I choose to glorify God in the face of pain and loss? On Saturday, July 1, 2017 as most Canadians celebrated the 150th anniversary of our great country, many of us heard the devastating news – Canada had lost a good citizen and heaven had gained a great one. Nathan Barrett, a friend-to-all, worked tirelessly to help people and bring glory to God. His indefatigable work ethic was a testimony to his own stubborn fortitude, his faith, a godly family, and God’s matchless grace. Yet he was always willing to stop and talk. His easy laugh and broad smile shone heaven’s radiance and constantly made you feel welcome and at ease no matter how intense the moment seemed. I have never met a more “chill” individual as “Bear.” He met every challenge with an even, can-do, external calm that spoke nothing of inner turmoil. I think that is because he lived to serve others. Now, his living to serve others has come to an end and despite the tragic circumstances, he has been welcomed to heaven by a fellow carpenter, Jesus Christ Himself. He has fought a good fight, he has finished a good course, he has kept an incredible faith for us to follow and I am sure he has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Though through this time we grieve, we also rejoice in a powerful legacy. How many 25-year-old men in society today leave an undeniable testimony of faithfulness to so many of us as witnesses? We, at Word of Life, have been honoured to know and serve with Nathan Barrett as a student, intern, Summer and Winter Camp Staff, and friend and we cannot wait to see him again in glory.
