The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Jean Girvin can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Jean

I'm not sure when I first met Jean, but one of my favourite memories of her was when she stayed at our house during Canal Days in Port Colborne.   She told her Uncle Ron & I that attending Canal Days had always been on her Bucket List.   She spent an entire morning exploring activities downtown.   In the afternoon we headed to Roselawn Centre to listen to the Allstar Jazz Band.   We enjoyed a BBQ & wine during the music.   After that we headed home for Happy Hour on the front porch.   Jean said we had the best front porch ever.   We went for dinner at the Country Kettle with her Aunt Buddy & then took in a theatre production.   The next day Jean and I headed out to the arena where there were crafts of every description.   I learned that Jean had a passion for pottery.   She told me that she didn't buy it any more but before we left she purchased a piece of p[ottery that she said she had to have.   We had a good laugh over that.   We had a downpour right around lunch time, so every restaurant in town was crammed with people trying to get out of the rain.   We finally went to Harvey's Swiss Chalet for a bite to eat.   Not the fanciest place but it did the trick.   We spent more time on the front porch.   Jean told us how she was determined to drive on her own to Thunder Bay.   And if I'm not mistaken, she did accomplish that feat.   She said she would have to come back for another Canal Days because there was just too much to take in .   Jean also told us she would be seeing her doctor shortly after she got back home.   It was almost like she already knew what was happening to her body.    That evening we went down to the canal to watch the fireworks.   Jean was enthralled!   Alas, the next morning she headed for home.   Uncle Ron & I will treasure that time we had with Jean.
