JOSEPH ALFRED MCARTHUR (1934 – 2017)

Peacefully, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 7, 2017, Joseph Alfred McArthur, of Tillsonburg and formerly of Toronto passed away at the age of 83 years. Beloved husband of the Late Carole McArthur (2007). Dear companion of 7 years to Gail Austin. Proud and loving father of his two daughters Kim Nutt (David) of Vancouver Island and Karen Rohrer (Peter) of Tillsonburg. Cherished grandfather of Callie, Jessica (Brandon), Ryan, Lindsay, Jennifer (Barry) and great-grandchildren Cadence, Keaton, Benson and Koltyr. Predeceased by his sister Dorothy Daniels and three brothers Allan, Jim and Bill McArthur. Joe was an avid New York Yankees and Montreal Canadiens Fan. He also enjoyed collecting sports cards and memorabilia as well as coins. Joe began his working career at Bordens and was a loyal employee there for many years. He also was employed at M.I.T. Concrete and worked as an Accountant at CKOT radio in Tillsonburg. Joe served as Past President of the Seniors Centre Board of Directors and he was also a Board Member at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital. Friends and relatives will be received by Joe’s family at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Tillsonburg on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Tom Ferrera officiating. Inurnment to follow at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Diabetes Association, Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by Joe’s family.
