Obituary for Thomas McLaughlin

THOMAS McLAUGHLIN (April 19, 1933 - September 20, 2017)
Passed away peacefully at the age of 84, with his loving family by his side. Predeceased by his dear wife of 50 years Clara (nee Hamner, 2013), children David (1964) and Barbara (2010), as well as his father Tommy McLaughlin (1943), step-father Thomas McKenna (1984), mother Jean (nee Connelly, 1997) and brother Edward (2008). Tommy is survived by his brother Thomas McKenna (Janice) and his sister-in-law Rose McLaughlin, as well as his nephews and nieces. Tommy will be greatly missed by his granddaughters Christiane Bouwheer (Kyle) and Alexis Macropoulos.
Born April 19, 1933 in Clydebank, Scotland, Tommy was a member of the British Air Force before immigrating to Canada in 1952. He was a lifelong employee of Loblaws, eventually attaining the top position of the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union. He will be fondly remembered by all for his love and commitment to family, contributions to his community, his interest in technology and his caring and compassionate heart. We will always remember Grandpa for the hardworking man that he was and that after a long day, he enjoyed relaxing with a nice glass of scotch with friends and family. In keeping with Tommy's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held in Port Credit at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation and may be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home Limited, 43 Bidwell St., Tillsonburg, ON, (519) 842-5221 who has been entrusted with arrangements.
