ROBERT GEORGE ELWIN GILLETT (1936 – 2017)
Peacefully, with his family by his side at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Saturday, December 23, 2017, Robert “Bob” Gillett of Tillsonburg passed away at the age of 81 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Marilyn (Lindsay) Gillett for 61 wonderful years. Proud and loving father of Gavin and his wife Karen of Tillsonburg and Gwen Tuinman and her husband Eric of Whitby. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Julianna, Brittany (Matt), Justin (Ashley), Holly and Zachery and great-grandfather of Avery and Connor. Bob will also be sadly missed by his brothers-in-law Ken Jackson and Ken Lindsay as well his nieces Lori, Lisa, Angela and nephew Mark. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Cleo (Forsythe) Gillett and his sister Betty Jackson. Many years of family farming can be accredited to his work ethic and attention to details. Employers and clients benefited from his pleasant and friendly presence, which served him well as a salesman in the automotive parts industry throughout Southern Ontario. He enjoyed dancing, travelling and gathering with lifelong friends and took pleasure in trips to the lake fishing and dabbled in swinging a golf club alongside buddies. His passion , creativity and talent was expressed through many woodworking projects and creations that many enjoyed. Friends and relatives will be receives at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from noon – 2:00 p.m. The Funeral Service for Bob will follow in Ostrander’s Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Robinson officiating. Interment at the Aylmer Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the Gillett family.
