Obituary for Sue Margaret Charlton

Sue Margaret Charlton
Sue Charlton
February 7, 1940 – March 11, 2018
“All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on” - Henry Ellis
It is with both profound sadness and admiration for a life well lived that the family of Sue Charlton announce her passing on Sunday March 11, 2018 in her home surrounded with the love of her family.
Sue is survived by her devoted husband Tim of 55 years, as well as her children Jane & Joe Haslinger, Dave Charlton and Karen Simonis (Reini Simonis 2014). Nana to Karen’s children Grace and Griffin Simonis. Sister to Betty Murray and James Elliott & Irene Reinhold. Sister in law to Lorna Charlton. Aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Sue’s life involved being Past President of the Tillsonburg Kinette Club, volunteer with ARCwood Industries, Tillsonburg Hospital Auxiliary Extravaganza and longtime member of the Tillsonburg Horticultural Society. As a member of the Station Arts Centre, Sue painted weekly with the Bridge Street Artists and having recently moved to Hickory Hills, Sue was a member of their artistry group as well.
Sue’s family would like to thank the Regional Cancer Program at London Health Science’s Centre. Also the Compassionate Palliative Care Team under Dr. Collins. To nurses, Sharon and Kaitlyn and CCAC worker Karen – thank you for such loving care.
Sue is remembered for her ability to bring creativity and beauty to all she touched. She was genuine, humble and most of all greathearted. All were welcome at the Charlton table and many people would have wonderful memories of gatherings where the most simple days would become celebrated occasions.
From hand sewn clothing and costumes, to birthday cakes filled with coins we hope Sue knows how much we appreciated her ability to make the ordinary extraordinary.
Love’s last gift is remembrance. The family would ask you to consider a donation in Sue’s name to Sakura House in Woodstock or the Station Arts Centre in Tillsonburg by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home Limited, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg, ON N4G 3T6 (519) 842-5221 who has been entrusted with Sue’s arrangements. Personal condolences may be made at www.ostrandersfuneralhome.com
Sue’s lasting legacy to her family and friends will always be her remarkable artistry. We can’t think of a more fitting celebration for Sue than to celebrate her life while surrounded by a collection of her art. Please join us at the Station Arts Centre, 41 Bridge St. W, Tillsonburg on Saturday March 17th, 2:00-5:00pm.

Loyalty Forever
