Peacefully, at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Courtland on Thursday, January 15, 2015, Mary “Irene” Cronmiller passed away at the age of 96 years. Beloved wife of the late William Gillis (1947) and the late William Cronmiller (1967). Loving and caring mother of Edna Tait of R.R. # 6 Tillsonburg, Mary Tops (John) of Alberta, George “Wilson” Gillis of St. Williams, Donald Gillis of Alberta, Douglas Gillis of Thorold, Robert Cronmiller (Margaret) of Walsingham and step-mother of Vivian Armstrong of St. Williams, Marilyn Hayat of Walsingham and Max Cronmiller (Donna) of R.R. # 1 Walsingham. Cherished grandmother of several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-granchildren and 1 great-great-great- grandchild. Dear sister of Helen Aspden of Simcoe, Dora Stackhouse of St. Williams, Eva Price (Gordon) of R.R. # 6 Tillsonburg, Ara Ponting of Sarnia and George Townsend of St. Williams. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents George and Frances (Pretty) Townsend, son Lloyd “Butch” Gillis, 2 grandchildren David Tait, Jennifer Tops, 1 sister Gladys Alward, 2 brothers James and William Townsend, son-in-law Gordon Tait, daughters-in-law Bernice Gillis, Louisette Gillis, step-son Charles Cronmiller, step-son-in-law Edmund Armstrong, sisters-in-law Ethel, Luella, Evelyn and Violet Townsend, brothers-in-law Harold Aspden, Larry Stackhouse, Waverley Ponting,Lee Alward and Hugh Stackhouse. Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. till time of Funeral Service which will be at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Babbey officiating. Interment followed at Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
