Obituary for Amy "Maureen" Murray (Wellings)

Amy “Maureen” Murray (nee Wellings)
June 23, 1938 - March 29, 2021

Daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to so many. Maureen passed away comfortably in the company of family at the Woodingford Lodge, Tillsonburg, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Maureen loved life. She loved to travel, loved music, and dancing and most of all loved the company of friends and family, where she was always happiest in engaging in song and dance and conversation on any subject. The subject was never as important to her as the people that she was with and that will always resonate as the memory that people will smile and remember.
Maureen is predeceased by her parents Roy and Winn, her loving husband of 54 years, Jack and her precious son Paul. Maureen is survived by her son John and his wife Annette, grandchildren, Chad (Brittany), Nick (Jessica), David (Helen) and Dylan, her step grandchildren Vincent, Rochelle (Kyle), and Brigitte, as well as her 7 great grandchildren Gage, Roque, Kash, Jax, Kaia, Natalie and Lee. Maureen is also survived by her sister Jean (Arthur). Family was the light in Maureen’s life and her family’s worlds will always be brighter for the way she touched them.
You can rest now mom. God knows you have earned that. You fought a gallant battle with an unrelenting and cruel foe and though our hearts are saddened by your leaving, the peace that now finds you, helps to ease the pain of the void you leave behind. Go with the comfort of knowing that we have always loved you and always will. Our worlds are forever a better place, because you were a part of it. We love you mom…. And miss you terribly.
Our family would like to express a very special thank you to Dr. Barry Roth and all the staff and volunteers at Woodingford Lodge, for the great care and respect that they have provided to Maureen over the years. Without you, we would have been lost and you are true heroes to us. Thank you.
Because of the current conditions around the pandemic, no service will be occurring. A family celebration of life will occur at a later date. Your kind thoughts and messages are always appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Maureen’s name to the Woodingford Lodge Nursing Home (Tillsonburg) or the Alzheimer’s Society and may be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
