Obituary for Anthony Gerald "TONY" Richards

RICHARDS, ANTHONY GERALD (TONY)
With tremendous sadness, the wife and children of Tony Richards announce our Husband and Dad passed away at home in Tillsonburg on Monday, May 25th, 2020.
Tony was born in Chessington, Surrey, England on October 12th, 1934. He arrived in Canada with his family on September 14th, 1968 and never looked back. In England, he was a telegraphist in the Royal Navy, followed by a career with Western Union until coming to Canada, where Tony spent 22 years at the Ford Talbotville plant, retiring as a Supervisor.
Left to miss Tony every day is his beloved wife and best friend, Dorothy of Hickory Hills, Tillsonburg; his four much loved children; Mary (Dee) of Strathroy, Eileen (Steve) of London, Susan of Wesley Chapel, Florida and David (Linda) of London. He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren; Emily, Alison (Charles), Jason (Katie), Lindsey and Terri, and five great grandchildren. Also survived by sister-in-law Barbara Casavecchia of Ottawa and Elenore Richards of Suffolk, England. Predeceased by his parents John and Violet Richards, his brother Gordon and sister Barbara, all of England. He will be also missed by his close friends in Hickory Hills.
Dorothy and her children would like to thank two special people; Dr. Robert Butchey of London, who has supported us and kept in touch regularly during Tony’s illness; and Dr. Anas Al-Kassam of Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe, whose surgical skills gave us 11 precious weeks with Tony. Thanks also to the nurses and PSW’s from Team 6 LHIN who came to our home to help Tony and our family during this difficult time. Our friends in Hickory Hills have been of great comfort, and we thank you all for your emails, cards, phone calls, desserts etc. over the past 3 months.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will follow. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell St., Tillsonburg, ON, N4G 3T6, (519) 842-5221. Donations to honour the life of our beloved Husband and Dad may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity close to your heart.
We’ll meet again
Don’t know where
Don’t know when
But I know we’ll meet again some sunny day.

Friends and relatives are invited to show their support by sending special heartfelt tributes, and hugs from home in memory of Tony to www.ostrandersfuneralhome.com
