Barbara Catharine, (nee Charter) - passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, in her 95th year at the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home, Simcoe, Barbara Watt of Tillsonburg and formerly of Long Point was predeceased by her parents Margaret (nee Kirkwood) and Truman Charter, beloved husband Donald Watt, her brothers, Kenny, Liston, Bobby, Jimmy Charter, sisters Beth Hunter, Margaret Davies, Jean (Jeannie) Cline, Rita Jacobs and her nephew Kirk Hunter. Survived by her sister-in-law Alva Charter (nee Greenslade), her brother-in-law, Dick Cline and several nieces and nephews.
An early breaker of the glass ceiling, Barb was one of the first female managers at the Bell Telephone Company, where she was recognized for her dedication and service for 32 years. Barb began her career in Simcoe as a night operator in her early teens and prior to retirement she managed over 300 operators.
Barb loved to have fun and was passionate about family, her home in Tillsonburg, and outdoor activities including cross country skiing and especially golf. A proud member of the Tillsonburg Golf and Country Club, she enjoyed regular games with her beloved “nine holers”.
Barb was very special and will be dearly missed by family, friends, and neighbours. We find comfort in knowing the Charter clan is now together safely in heaven.
