MARCH 2, 1926 – OCTOBER 22, 2019
Peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, Betty Irvon Dean, formerly of Tillsonburg, passed away at Norview Lodge, Simcoe at the age of 93 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Donald (2004). Beloved, amazing mother to, John and his best friend Liza, and his step-daughters Yvonne, Nicole and families. Loving sister to Menai Wardle and her children Gareth and Glyn and their families; Gwyn Williams and his children David and Ellen and families. Aunt to Mark, Simon, Adam and families. Sister-in-law to Ann Clarke and her daughter Kathy Clarke and family. Predeceased by her parents Evan and Elizabeth (nee Owen) Williams, step-mother Dilys (nee Davies) Williams, brother Ieuan Williams, brothers-in-law Alun Hughes, Ken Wardle, and Douglas Clarke. Betty worked in the field of nursing from the age of 16 through 40. She began her services in wartime London, working at several hospitals and health facilities in the Greater London Area, including Hammersmith. Coming to Canada in 1952, she worked in Ontario, Alberta, and B.C. After a short stint back in the U.K., she settled in Tillsonburg where she met her future husband Donald. Friends and relatives will be received by Betty’s family at OSTRANDER’S FUNERAL HOME LIMITED, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Monday, October 28, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The Funeral Service for Betty will be held in Ostrander’s Chapel on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. following her visitation. Rev. Paul Robinson will be officiating. Interment will be held in the Bethel Cemetery. Memorial donations to War Amps of Canada or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be appreciated by Betty’s family.
