Obituary for Betty Joan Smith (Hoadley)

JULY 26, 1941– DECEMBER 30, 2021

Betty Joan Smith passed away peacefully at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Thursday December 30, 2021, in her 80th year. Sadly, missed by her children Clayton Smith, Angela (Dale) Cull, Anthony (Nicole) Smith. Cherished grandmother of Adam (Jen) Cull, Andrew Cull, Allan (Tasha) Cull, Brittany Smith, Blake Smith, Kristen McMillen. Proud great grandmother to Everick, Eddison, Grayson and Aria. Survived by her sister Linda Napran. Predeceased by her husband Leo (2014), daughter Crystal Joy Ziegler (1996), sisters Elaine Rohrer (2011), Larry Hoadley, Mary Boughner and Helen Carr. Betty was a longtime member of Bethel Pentecostal Church, Tillsonburg and enjoyed Bible Studies. She loved gardening, embroidering and knitting and made sure all of her family received socks and pillow cases to enjoy. Betty was also a passionate baker and loved recipes. She had a vast selection of cookbooks. The family will host a public visitation for Betty on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg, ON. Due to Covid restrictions masks are mandatory and all invited guests must remain socially distant and self screen prior to entering the visitation. If you have been ill, exposed to covid-19 or are in self isolation, we kindly ask that you not attend. A private funeral service for Betty will be by invite only and held at the Bethel Pentecostal Church, Tillsonburg on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. The family has asked for Betty’s service to be Live Streamed which will be available on Betty’s tribute page on the funeral home website. Memorial donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Diabetes Association or Tourette Canada and can be done by following the directions on Betty’s tribute page or by contacting the funeral home (519) 842-5221.
