Obituary for David Kamenar

DAVID KAMENAR
SEPTEMBER 16, 1952 – SEPTEMBER 6, 2020
On Sunday, September 6, 2020, we said farewell to our most beloved husband, father, brother and friend. David Kamenar passed away, suddenly at home, in Tillsonburg in his 68th year. A man who was fiercely dedicated to his family and friends. Dave’s work ethic was only surpassed by his kindness, humour and unconditional love. Survived by his wife, best friend and true soulmate of 41 years, Shanna Lee (Murphy) Kamenar, sons David (Lisa) and Andrew (Ashley). Dave was the adored Grandpa to Grace, Hazel and Adeline. Much loved Brother to Stephen (Elaine) and cherished brother-in-law to Shelly Merritt(Brian), Steven, Sherri Gaudet-Brown (Stephen). He was a loved uncle to Meagan VanDamme (Noah), Scott Kamenar (Amanda), Stephen Kamenar, Jaclyn Kamenar, Michael Kamenar (Ashley), Karen Brisbois (Ken), Sarah James (Cory), Elise Johnson (Adrian), Kevin VanDamme (Lou), Jessica Carter (Ross), Andre Gaudet and Karleigh Murphy (Eric). He was predeceased by his Mother, Olga Kamenar (Sep 1, 2020), his sister-in-law, Marie (August 2020), his brother, Michael Kamenar (2009) and his Father, Michael Kamenar (1998). Also predeceased by his mother and father-in-law James and Dawn Murphy and brother in law, David Gaudet. Dave was a dedicated employee of Verne’s Carpet One for many years, a hard-working, good humoured colleague, known to many in the construction industry in and around town. Those who worked with him described him as easy-natured and always willing to lend a hand. Outside of work and family, Dave’s passions were world history with a particular affinity for Aviation and collecting First-Nations artifacts. His private arrowhead collection was a source of fierce, but friendly, competition (with his brother) and a constant reminder of our humble place within the vast expanse of time. He had the ability to speak intelligently on a wide range of subjects but would always listen to others first, respectfully disagreeing when he had to, he never felt the need to demean anyone for a difference of opinion. . Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home Limited, 43 Bidwell Street Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Monday, September 14, 2020 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
