Obituary for Dorothy Dean Carter

Dorothy Carter
1924-2022

Peacefully on June 25, 2022 at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital at the age of 97 years Dorothy Carter a resident of Tillsonburg passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born and raised in the small town of Waldron, Saskatchewan.
She joined the Air Force at the beginning of World War II and that’s where she met Jack Carter her husband of 55 years. She was proud to display her service medals at Remembrance Day ceremonies and was the last surviving veteran in her church community. Dorothy enjoyed travel, books, singing, a good laugh and chocolate. She called the Trenton/Belleville area home until retiring to Tillsonburg in 1997.
Dorothy was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Church in Tillsonburg where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Dorothy was a friendly outgoing person who had many friends in all of the places she lived. Her wicked sense of humour was evident even in the last days of her life when she had the doctors and nurses laughing at her bedside at her incisive comments. As the doctor said, “She has a spark”.
For the last 12 years, she was the beloved partner of George Ross also of the Tillsonburg community.
They were united in their love of dancing and of lively conversation. Dorothy will sadly be missed by her partner George.
She was the loving mother of Linda Beale, Susan Bailey and Joan Carter.
She was a proud grandmother to Marjorie Puskas, Christine Bailey, Ben and Leah Carter Watson.
Dorothy was a great grandmother to Ethan and Emma Puskas.
She was predeceased by her son John Carter, her husband Jack Carter and her grandson Jamie Beale.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Service for Dorothy. It will be held on Saturday, July 9 at 1 PM from St. Paul’s United Church in Tillsonburg.
Reverend Karlene Brown-Palmer will be officiating.
