Obituary for Edith Marion Jean Saunders
EDITH MARION JEAN SAUNDERS
1945- 2022
Edith Saunders (nee Whitfield) resident of Tillsonburg, passed away on August 30, 2022 at Tillsonburg General Hospital at the age of 77 years.
Edith was born and raised in London, the youngest of four siblings, within a close network of extended family. She started her family with husband Denis Saunders in Tillsonburg, later moving to La Salette and enjoying life in the countryside for many years.
Upon Denis' death (2003), she moved to Baldwin Place in Tillsonburg, making many new friends, and enjoyed an active social life.
Edith loved cats, playing cards, scrabble, travel, reading, walking, and relaxing at the pool. She was happy and healthy right to the end, passing away after an unexpected cardiac event. Friends provided immediate medical care, and she passed away in hospital shortly after with family in attendance.
She is sadly missed by her daughters Julie Saunders (Mark Nitz) and Heather Saunders (Anthony Tremblay) and grandson Miles Nitz. Edith was predeceased by sister Margaret Williams, brothers Cameron and Peter Whitfield, and parents Ralph and Helen (Walker) Whitfield.
The family wishes to invite friends, relatives and neighbours to attend a memorial visitation on Friday September 9, 2022 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at St. Paul’s United Church in Tillsonburg. Immediately following the visitation at 2:00pm there will be a memorial service for Edith at the Church. Rev. Karlene Brown-Palmer officiating.
