Obituary for Gail Lorraine McDonald

Gail Lorraine McDonald, age 65, passed away peacefully in hospital on February 15, 2021 from respiratory failure.
Gail is deeply missed by her son, Brody Corbett and his wife Mandy, and her grandchildren Fawkes, Rémy, and Elvis. She leaves behind her sisters Judy (Tim) Oldham, Pam Hussey, and Pat Driessen, her brother Russell McDonald, her nieces Melissa (Colin) Verspeeten, Angela Brandow (nee Hussey), Lindsey (Adam) Wood, Jillian Driessen (Nick Zendowski), Katie McDonald, nephews Adam Hussey, Andrew McDonald, uncles Jim (Muriel) McDonald, and Keith Williams, and their respective families. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Alice McDonald, her aunts Helen Williams and Mae Oswald, her uncles Frank Rutherford, Russell Rutherford, and Fred Rutherford.
Gail was born June 26, 1955 in Tillsonburg to Robert and Alice McDonald. Growing up in the rural Ontario town fostered in Gail a love of the outdoors and music, and she could often be found enjoying both while producing a wide array of illustrations centered around fashion or décor. Ever the free spirit, Gail spent the better part of her life travelling around Ontario, exploring its various small towns and hamlets, drinking in everything each location had to offer. She eventually came to live the remainder of her years in the city of London, Ontario, but her home was always the freedom that comes with the wandering soul; in the lightning over Lake Erie, in the thrum of a Harley’s engine, in a fresh cup of tea and slow draw of a cigarette, in the peace of still water before a storm.
Cremation has taken place through Ostrander Funeral Home in Tillsonburg, and a Celebration of Life will be held post pandemic. Donations can be made to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Ontario SPCA).
