Obituary for G.E. Roger Scott

Scott, G. E. Roger
May 12, 1937 – March 4, 2023
George Edward Roger Scott passed away peacefully to be with the Lord at Tillsonburg Hospital on Saturday, March 4th with family by his side. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 30 years, Lois (2018). Loved Papa ‘Rupe’ Roger to Robert Adamson, Debra (Dave) Metselaar and Randy Adamson. Will be missed by his grandchildren, Vanessa (Jay), Shylo (Samantha), Adam (Ashley), Andy (Jenna), Alexa, Hailey (Josh) and Emily (Matt) as well as his 7 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Roger is survived by his brothers, Bryce and Ross (June) Scott and sister-in-laws Corinne Scott and Myra Claringbold. He is survived by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Minnie Scott, brothers Don (Mary), Doug (Dorothy), Joe (Dot), his brother-in-law, Robert Claringbold and sister-in-laws, Jean Luciani and Charlaine Scott.
Roger was employed with CN Railways for many years until 1995 when the company restructured. His job allowed him to work at various CN locations throughout Ontario and for Lois and him to take a couple trips out to Western Canada. He then worked for the Town of Tillsonburg at the Community Complex until he retired at age 65.
Roger was a baseball pitcher in his early years and later a softball coach and finally he played slo-pitch for the Bethel Church team before he lost his eyesight. He enjoyed watching (listening) to the Toronto Blue Jays and memorized every player stat. He was a very generous man and was always happy to lend a hand to anyone that needed it.
Roger was a wonderful cook and piemaker extraordinaire. His grandchildren loved Papa’s chocolate cake and icing and sometimes invited themselves for supper where they were guaranteed to have a hearty meal.
In keeping with Roger’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at the Tillsonburg Cemetery with Chaplain Tina Dias officiating. Memorial donations to The Salvation Army – Tillsonburg Branch may be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
