Obituary for Gene Arnold Rooke
GENE ARNOLD ROOKE
July 20, 1941 – November 11, 2021
With hearts saddened by loss, but overflowing with beautiful memories, the family of Gene Rooke announce his peaceful passing surrounded by his loving family at the VON Sakura House on Thursday November 11, 2021 in his 81st year. Predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Isabelle as well as two brothers Glen and one in infancy. Gene will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his sister Joan (Bob) McQuiggin, his nephews David McQuiggin (Kerry Prober), Robert McQuiggin (Kerrie), Paul McQuiggin (Christie), and niece Susan De Roo (Patrick). Special memories of Great Uncle Gene are held dear by Ashley Holbeck (Chad), Grant McQuiggin (Taylor Brackenbury), Alex McQuiggin, Katie McQuiggin and Gordon De Roo. Gene resided recently in Hickory Hills, Tillsonburg and lived many years in Dereham Centre. Gene was the owner and operator of Village Wood Works in Dereham Centre for 20 years. Earlier in his career Gene was an owner/operator/partner of several kitchen cabinet manufacturers in Woodstock, London and Kitchener. He took pride as an accomplished master wood craftsman and cabinetmaker. Gene completed courses through the University of Chicago early in his career.
Gene valued his close family and never missed an opportunity to participate in a family event.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at Delmer Cemetery. Donations in memory of Gene may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and may be done by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, Tillsonburg (519) 842-5221.
