1930 – 2022
HILHORST, Gerry – On Friday October 28, 2022, at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock, Gerry Anton Hilhorst of Tillsonburg was called Home to be with his Lord at the age of 91 years. Beloved husband and best friend for 63 years to the late Rica Hilhorst (2019). Loving father of the late Gerry (2009) (Sharon) of West Montrose, Julia of London, Joanne (Mike Underwood) of Sweaburg, and Bob (Nancy) of Sweaburg. Caring Opa of Danielle and Brittany Hilhorst. Predeceased by his father Gerardus (1957), mother Johanna (Van Dijk) (1930). One of 16 children, survived by Tonia, Tony, Geurt, Annie, Johan, Doortje. Predeceased by Marie, Sophia, Arie, Woutera, Alie, Ted, Bill , Grada, Daan. Survived by several Hilhorst family and Hoofd family nieces and nephews, in Canada and the Netherlands.
The family will receive their friends and relatives at Ostrander’s Funeral Home Limited, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221), on Wednesday November 2, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday November 3, 2022 at St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 51 Venison St W, Tillsonburg, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Thomas Kuriacko officiating. Interment will be held in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. In Gerry’s memory, donations to the St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church building fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
