Obituary for Helen Mary Fulop (Drotos)

HELEN MARY FULOP
September 10, 1925 – March 4, 2022


We would like to announce the sad and courageous passing of our mother Helen Fulop (Drotos) with family by her side at Maple Manor Nursing Home , Tillsonburg, Ontario on March 04, 2022 in her 97th year. She will be happily reunited with her husband Louie (1996) only days after what would have been their 79th wedding anniversary.
Survived by daughters Helen Massia (Gary) of London Ontario, Rose Campbell of Elkhart, Indiana USA and son Daryl (Niek) of Huizen, The Netherlands.
Born in Edeleny Hungary 1925 and immigrating to Canada at the age of 4 with her parents and older brother, she was the daughter of John (1982) and Elizabeth (1987)Drotos. Predeceased by brothers John (1991), Joe (2019), Steve (2019) and son in law Don Campbell (2018), brother in law George Fulop (2007), sister in laws Betty Drotos (2006), Annie Fulop (2012) and nephews Joe Drotos (1976) and Steve Drotos (2013)
Survived by her sister-in- laws, Marg Drotos and Liz Drotos, cousin Helen Orel (Cambridge) and many loving nieces and nephews.
For many years, Helen tirelessly helping her husband Lou farm tobacco in Walsingham, while raising her children. She was feisty, outspoken and usually a force to be reckoned with . She was a fantastic baker and wonderful cook making many of the Hungarian family recipes handed down to her from her mother. She had a keen sense of humour and always loved to laugh, most of the the time at herself. She was a long time member of the Catholic Women’s League and after retirement from the farm, loved her part time job working at the Deli in the Tillsonburg IGA.
As per Helen’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday March 11, 2022 from 10:00am to 11:00 am at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg, ON with a service to follow at 11:00 am. Inurnment at Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or The Arthritis Society and would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
Thank you to all of our relatives who really were a godsend with helping us throughout the last ten years with her care.
We thank the staff of the Tillsonburg Retirement Residence and more recently the staff at Maple Manor Nursing Home for their compassion and care.
