After a lengthy battle with illness, Joseph Napoleon “Herve” Vezina, of Straffordville, passed peacefully at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 with his loving family by his side, at the age of 81 years. Loving husband of nearly 60 years to Ghislaine (nee Cabana). Caring, and supportive father to Mario Vezina and his wife Dawn, Sylvie Vezina and her husband Dennis Ball, John Vezina and his wife Denise, Marc Vezina and his wife Jackie, Johanne Luce and her husband Tom. Grandfather to Kristie (Steve), Courtney (Nelson), Brittney, Michelle (James), Steven, Jodi (Darryl), Nicole (Dan), Andrew, Shelley (John), and Melody. Great grandfather to Owen, Gracie, Lilah, Valerie. Brother to Lilliane Bachand, Ronald Vezina, Jeannine Deguire, Rose Vezina, Bibiane Vezina (Jacque). Herve is survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Yvonne Vezina, siblings, Lucie Lavoie, Claude Vezina, and Helene Vezina. Herve drove logging truck for Townsend Lumber for many years. He drove truck with his brother Claude prior to Townsends starting back in 1973. Friends and relatives are asked to join the family for visitation at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. The Funeral Service for Herve will be held in Ostrander’s Funeral Home Chapel following the visitation at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Cordell Parsons officiating. Cremation will take place after the funeral service. Interment will be at a later date. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by Herve’s family.
