Obituary for James "Jim" Edward Wilson
JAMES “JIM” EDWARD WILSON
(October 22,1953 – March 27, 2024)
Jim passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Forever loved by his wife and best friend Deb (Hunt) Wilson for 48 years. Proud and loving father of Kim Jeffreys (Ian), Matt Wilson (Lydia), Nick Wilson (Shannon), Adam Wilson (Britt), Danielle Benner (Andrew) and Jill Mater (Andy). Cherished grandpa of Madeleine, Charlotte, Leah, Bradley, Mae, Millie, Russell, Lewyn, Emma, Connor and step-grandpa of Spencer and Sydney. Dear brother of Judy Barrett, Mike Wilson (Geno), Sandra Wilson and brother-in-law of Diane Park (Gord), Brian Hunt (Shelley), Don Hunt (Wilma) and Keith Hunt (Karen). Jim is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Joyce (Mellick) Wilson and his brother-in-law Bob Barrett.
Jim loved the outdoors – camping, fishing, canoeing and his beloved salamander monitoring. He could often be found in the kitchen on Sunday afternoons, beer in hand, cooking up a feast for the family. In the last few months he had also discovered a love of lego and completed several sets with his granddaughter. Jim will be missed by his large family and many friends that he loved so much. A special thank you to Dr. Adam Mutsaers, and Jim’s palliative care team including Suzanne, Tina and Sharon. In lieu of flowers, donations to the London Regional Cancer Program or the Long Point World Biosphere Region Foundation would be appreciated and can be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted by Jim’s family.
Please join us in celebrating Jim’s life on Saturday, April 13 2024 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Otter Creek Golf Club located at 275 James Street, Otterville. Everyone is encouraged to wear a Hawaiian shirt.
