Obituary for Jean "GUY" Grandbois

JEAN “GUY” GRANDBOIS
1939 – 2020

It is with deep sadness the family wish to announce the passing of their beloved husband, father, Grandfather, Great grandfather, Jean “Guy” Grandbois of Straffordville, on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the age of 80 years. He was a loving caring husband of 59 years to his wife Jenny (Rekstis).
Guy was a loving father to his daughters, Denise and her husband Don Vuylsteke, Christine (Ken DeRoo), and his son Brian (Val Kalmbach).
Proud grandfather to Scott (Mandy), Jason (Chantelle) Vuylsteke and Jeremy (Heather), Jessie (Marissa) and Jordan Grandbois.
Great grandfather to Abby, Emma, Levi, Kayle, Myles, Brady, and Lilah.
Survived by his siblings Theresa, Joanne, Julien, Andre, and Denis.
Guy was predeceased by his grandson Derek Chambers (2008), his parents Armand and Angeline Grandbois, his sisters Janine, Lisa, Diane, brothers Gerald, Arthur, Marcel, Adelbere, and Jock.
Guy worked at Livingston Industries for a number of years.
Guy was the proud owner of Guy’s Service Center in Straffordville for 20 years, where he also fulfilled his long time dream of serving the public with his well known Hamburgers and homemade French fries.
Guy was also a volunteer on the Straffordville Watermelon Festival Committee. He enjoyed 19 years of cutting Watermelons for this event.
Guy was also a long time daily “Greeter” at Cain’s Automotive in Straffordville (his family used to joke about this).
We are sorry to report that due to the ongoing restrictions resulting from the spread of the Coronavirus there can be no community visitations or public funeral.
A private family funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Friends and relatives are welcome to be a part of the funeral service via YouTube Live. Private family interment will be held at the Straffordville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the ALS Society of Canada, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the Grandbois family and can be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home Limited, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted with arrangements.
