Obituary for Jim Richardson

JIM RICHARDSON
June 5, 1944 – October 10, 2022

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that our family wishes to announce the passing of Jim Richardson. He peacefully passed away after a brief battle with cancer surrounded by family at the VON Sakura House, Woodstock on October 10, 2022 at the age of 78 years. He leaves behind his loving wife Lorraine of 58 years. Jim was a wonderful father to his children, Sandy (Paul), Kevin (Tammy), Michelle (George), Jeremy (Tina). He cherished his role as Papa and Grandpa to Brittany, Aleesha (Devon), Darren, Leah (Justin), Chloe (Baily), Carter, Jack and Great-Grandpa to William. Predeceased by his parents Crother and Gladys, son-in laws Wayne and Don.
Jim served our community faithfully for over 60 years. He dedicated a lifetime of hard work to the Town of Tillsonburg. After 40 years of work with the Ontario Flue-Cured Tobacco Grower’s Marketing Board, he retired and continued his work with the Special Events Center and the Tillsonburg Community Center. He served our community, silently and proudly. While you may not have had the opportunity to meet Jim, his efforts have absolutely touched you in some way. He loved his dogs. He loved classical cars. He always made time for NASCAR and supported many of the events put on by surrounding communities. He had quite the sweet tooth and despite his diabetes, would give in quite often. He hopes that he taught at least one of his grandchildren to successfully sneak a Reese’s peanut butter cup without being caught. He lived well, if not quite long enough.
We extend our deepest gratitude for the guidance, care and compassion of the Palliative Care Team of Woodstock, Oxford County Paramedic Services, VON Sakura House, Woodstock.
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. In memoriam donations can be made to the VON Sakura House or a Charity of your Choosing and can be done online or by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
