Peacefully at his residence with his loving wife Cheryl by his side, Johan “John” Henry Maerten of Port Burwell passed away on Monday December 4, 2023 at the age of 76 years.
Loving father to MaryLynn Okkerse and her husband Jay; Terrie-Lynn Hantz and her husband Craig; Tracy Maerten and John Maerten. Proud grandfather to Maverick, Nash, Lincoln, Ashton, Carter, Evander and Brooke. Great grandfather to 3 great grandchildren. Brother to Norbert (Alie) Maerten and Warner (Monique) Maerten. Stepfather to Laura Kuchma (Tim), Bob Kuchma, Cheryl Kuchma (Alex) and David Kuchma (Manon) and survived by his ex-wife, Marilyn Kuchma. Uncle to several nieces and nephews and goddaughter Lori Roobroeck. Predeceased by his parents Albert and Agnes and brother Patrick Maerten.
John had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed all that the outdoors had to offer, fishing, hunting and farming.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg, ON (519) 842-5221 on Monday December 11, 2023 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm for a Memorial Visitation. There will not be a Memorial Service but rather a private graveside service to be held at a future date. The family will host a celebration of life for family and friends on a date to be determined. In memory of John please continue to perform acts of kindness.
