Obituary for John William Sandham
JOHN WILLIAM SANDHAM
1935 - 2023
“Nothing can be added and nothing can be taken away.”
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful and unexpected passing of John William Sandham at his home on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
John was born September 29, 1935 in a farm house on Goshen Road. At a young age he moved to the farm west of Springford where he became an active member of the Springford community. He was a mover of furniture, a trucker of livestock, a seller of seed corn and a respected farmer. John semi-retired to his “little farm” on Cranberry Line in 1997. In 2015 he retired to one of the most neighbourly streets in Tillsonburg.
John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Greta, his 3 fabulous J’s and their families; Judy and Steven Mucci (Jessica and Jay), Janette and David Aiken (Fiona), Jodi and Rob Monk (Samantha, Josh, and Maddie) and Gary John and Vicky VandenBrink. He is also survived by his brother Murray and Edna Sandham and his in-laws Ardie and Dick Scholten, Hanny Knowles, Francine and Jim VandenBeukel, Joanne Breitman and Dr. Alan Bernstein and Cornelis VanderSpek.
John was predeceased by his parents J.W. and Doris Sandham, his sister Marie and Bill Broad, Greta’s parents Cornelis and Aletta A. VanderSpek, as well as in-laws Jane and Hank VandenBrink, Martin Breitman, Dennis Knowles, Matt Heerschap and Wilma VanderSpek.
John’s “girls” would like to thank all of you who took the time to visit with him on his back road travels, his impromptu visits and at the house. He valued those visits more than you know.
The family requests “No Flowers”. Instead, donations to VON-Sakura House would be greatly appreciated.
Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Monday, May 29, 2023 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and then 6:00pm until 8:00pm. A private family graveside service for John will be held at Springford Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.ostrandersfuneralhome.com
