Obituary for Larry Dennis Crossett

Larry Dennis Crossett
27 Sept 1953- 26 Jun 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Crossett, age 69, at home, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy, hard fought battle with melanoma.

Larry was born in Tillsonburg, and has lived here all of his life. He was a previous member of Tillsonburg Fire and Rescue, for 27 years and was retired after over 30 years at Royal Glass and Mirror. Many knew him as a quiet, hard working man who was dedicated to his family and friends. He had a heart of gold, unwavering loyalty and a great sense of humour. He loved music, long drives in the countryside and especially coffee with friends. Larry would easily have won the prize for the most bird feeders. He loved his blue jays and fed them while talking softly. In the past couple of years, he became passionate about making wooden bird silhouettes.

He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart Marilyn (Lucas). Larry was very proud of his son Andrew Crossett (Milena) of Windsor, and of his daughter Jody (David) Frei of Tillsonburg.

He was a devoted and awesome Papa to his grandchildren Aidan, Carter, Madison and Blake Frei of Tillsonburg, and Harlow Crossett of Windsor. He loved to attend their sporting events, even as his health deteriorated. His love will be forever etched in their lives.

Larry is survived by his sister Jo-Anne (Bob) Csinos of Vienna, his father-in-law Richard (Karen) Lucas of Tillsonburg, brothers-in-law John (Laurie) Lucas of London and family, and Brent Lucas of London. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Carl (1995) and Kaye (1984) Crossett, of Tillsonburg. Infant brother Thomas (1956). Mother-in-law Mary Lucas (2003).

Larry is also survived by a wonderful circle of friends that were just like family to him. The support and friendship that they've offered over the last few years, meant the world to him.

In keeping with his wishes, Cremation has taken place. Public inurnment at the Tillsonburg Cemetery on Saturday, July 8 at 11:00am, followed by a Memorial Service at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 153, 16 Durham Street, Tillsonburg from 1-4pm. Casual dress was requested by Larry. At his request, no visitation will be held but all family and friends are invited to attend the funeral memorial service.

Special thanks to LHSC oncology department, the radiation team, Doctors and Nurses, and also Woodstock Hospital staff for their special care.
