Lyle Clare Buchner, of Tillsonburg passed away at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 29, 2023 in his 97th year. Lyle was born in Houghton Township on September 7, 1926. Beloved husband for 57 years to the Late Nina Merle (Vannatter) Buchner (2002). Proud father of Lorraine (Bob) of Sarnia, Blaine (Julie) of St. Williams, Buck (Kelly) of Port Burwell, and daughters-in-law Carol of Tillsonburg and Sharon of Mexico. Cherished grandpa of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Mark of B.C. and Jack (Phyllis) of Fairground. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ernie and Verna (Whitesell) Buchner, his sons, Gord and Ron and granddaughter Connie. Lyle and his wife Nina were the Proprietors of Lyle Buchner Farm Equipment in Tillsonburg for close to 50 years. As a successful Massey Ferguson Dealer he won numerous awards which allowed Lyle and Nina to travel to many places. Lyle always had a hand in farming…he was a true entrepreneur. He was also one of the Proprietors of Buchner-Hanson Lumber. Lyle was also involved with service to his community. He was a founding member of the Tillsonburg Optimist Club and in 1970 he was the Lieutenant Governor of the Optimist Club of Ontario. Lyle will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Family and friends will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg, ON N4G 3T6 (519) 842-5221 on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service for Lyle will be held in Ostrander’s Chapel on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11:00 am with Pastor Paul Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at the Cultus Cemetery. Memorial donations to The Mission Church, Frogmore, Diabetes Association or the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the Buchner family.
