Obituary for Martin "Marty" Theissler

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that our family wishes to announce the passing of our beloved Martin (Marty) Theissler on September 12th in his 82nd year. Loving and generous husband of 55 years to Heather (Nasswetter). Loving, guiding and proud father to Dave Theissler (Carrie), Jennifer Hill (Randy). Inspiring grandfather to Aidan, Megan and Lindsey Hill, Ben, Olivia, Sam and Jillian Theissler. Predeceased by his parents, Johan and Katie Theissler and his brother John Theissler. Martin is also survived by his sister Katie Mayer, sister-in-law Rose Ungar as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was life time best buddies with Urbain. A lifelong loyal supporter of the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. Martin was born in Gross Schogen, Romania and immigrated to Canada at the age of 9 where he later met and married the love of his life Heather. He was employed by Bell Canada for his entire career. He was an active member of the Bell Pioneers and the Bell Credit Union. Martin was a dedicated member of Peace Lutheran Church and was instrumental in many aspects of the day to day functions of the church. He took great pride in his role during the construction of Peace Lutheran. Martin enjoyed traveling and has managed to see many corners of the earth. His favourite location was in Florida at the Dolphin Inn. He was a true family man and dedicated his life to supporting his wife, children and grandchildren in all of their endeavors. He especially enjoyed creating woodworking projects for and with his grandkids. Martin was so proficient at fixing broken things that our family joke has always been “it’s been Theisslerized”. He will be greatly missed by many. Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service for Martin will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 60 Young Street, Tillsonburg on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 11:00 am with Pastor Paul Schallhorn officiating. Interment will follow at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the Theissler family.
