Obituary for Nicole Marie Taylor

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, Unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and forever dear.” It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our vibrant daughter; loving sister; and most amazing aunty: Nicole “Nikki” Marie Taylor, born February 9th 1987, in her 36th year.

Our hearts are broken as we recall all the happy times shared with Nikki. Forever cherished and dearly missed by her parents Melanie and John Taylor; triplet brother Brandon Taylor (Kristen); sisters, Katelyn Jansen (Sean) and Amber Priester (Jonathan); nephews and niece; Rylee Taylor, Carson & Brooks Jansen, Remy and baby Priester (arriving soon); and incredibly loved by Grandmother, Joyce Minler; Aunts; Uncles; and cousins.

Maximus; her constant companion and fur baby, is missing his favourite human terribly.

On April 12th 2023, Nicole was reunited with her triplet infant sister Danielle Marie Taylor; Grandfather, Frank Minler; Grandparents, Jack Taylor and Esther Taylor; Great Grandmother, Lillian Summerhayes.

Nicole had a heart of gold, and was an incredible woman; with a contagious energy that always drew people near to her.
Nikki was a ray of sunshine, and could light up any room. She was full of enthusiasm and positivity, and during her short time on earth, she made a significant impact on the lives of many people.

Born and raised in the countryside outside Tillsonburg, this is where Nicole’s love for the outdoors began to blossom. Her siblings have so many fond childhood memories of exploring the back woods with her, hiking and using her imagination as their guide. There are so many favourites from going to the family trailer in Longpoint, boating and traveling together in their camper.

Nicole’s talents knew no bounds and she excelled in every endeavour that came her way. After graduating from Glendale High School, in Tillsonburg, she studied Nursing at Western University in London, where she graduated from Nursing with Honours standing. Because of her merit she was inducted into Sigma, an International group for Nursing excellence. Nicole became a Pediatric Nurse, and enjoyed her careers at London Health Sciences Center; Emergency Department, Pediatric Inpatients, the Pediatric Medical Day Unit and Pediatric Oncology. More recently the Middlesex Public Health Unit. She utilized all her front line skills for exciting experiences with The Easter Seals Summer Camp; dog sledding with Camp OOCH (Campfire Circle), and The Sunshine Foundations one-day Dream lift to Disney Land. Nikki was a strong advocate for her little patients and built beautiful relationships with the children and families she served.
Although Nikki’s life was just beginning, she lived it more than most people ever have. Her energy and spirit was boundless, and she lived life to the fullest. Nikki travelled around the world, exploring places like Europe, Iceland, Asia Pacific, New Zealand, Australia and Tasmania to name a few. A thrill seeker; scuba diving, bungee jumping, sky diving, as well as a few solo canoe portage adventures. Her favourite of all was to take Maximus for hikes. Nikki saw beauty and life in nature and all things around her.

To know profound sadness is to know profound love, which is a gift from Nicole we will always cherish. We have learned so much from Nicole during her time with us. She modeled a great depth of determination and inner strength to face the kind of obstacles that had been placed in her life. From this, she taught us to; live in the moment and be present; to follow our dreams and make them happen; and to always choose adventure. If we can take anything from all this, it is to live like Nik….She was never too busy to hang out, she never turned down plans for a visit even if she had plans with someone else - all were invited and welcome in Nicole’s life. We could all learn from Nikki.

We sincerely extend our special Thank You to Doctor Jacques Raphael and his medical team of outstanding Doctors, Nurses/Staff that have assisted Nicole at the London Regional Cancer Center.

There was a private family service conducted for Nicole at John and Melanie’s home to honour her wishes.

Please join us in a Celebration of Nicole’s beautiful life Sunday, May 28th at the Tillsonburg Community Centre, Lions auditorium. All are welcome to attend the visitation from 1-2pm, service at 2pm, plus fellowship with coffee & snacks to follow. This event is casual dress, with any bright clothing, just like Nikki would have wanted it to be.
