Obituary for Peter Stubbs
JOHN “PETER” STUBBS
August 20, 1943 - September 20, 2023
Peacefully, with his loving wife and best friend Edith Stubbs (Lingaitis) of 57 years by his side at University Hospital, London on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, John “Peter” Stubbs of London and formerly of Tillsonburg passed away at the age of 80 years. Proud and loving father of his daughter Tammy Stubbs (Cal Fryer) of Oakville and son, Dr. Peter Stubbs (Dr. Jennifer Mackey). Loving grandfather of Ryan, Megan, Jack, Peter John and Nathan. Dear brother of Jim Stubbs (Lorraine) of Ottawa, Percy Stubbs (Joanne) of P.E.I. and brother-in-law of John Lingaitis (Astryda) of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Peter is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents George and Thelma Stubbs (Hill), mother and father-in-law George and Ann Lingaitis, brothers-in-law Albert and Pete Lingaitis.
Pete’s greatest joys in life were his family and friends. A man with an entrepreneurial spirit and the gift of the gab he touched many lives and made life that much more interesting. He would brighten any room and was the true life of the party.
As an avid sports enthusiast, his love of cheering on his favourite baseball or football teams, or his horse of choice was only surpassed by watching his favourite hockey players - his grandsons who have also inherited his stellar hockey skills.
We will miss his laughter, his funny voices and our family dance parties. You are gone but not forgotten.
In keeping with Peter’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at the Tillsonburg Cemetery on October 21, 2023. Memorial donations to the charity of your choice may be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted by the Stubbs family.
