(1929- 2022)
Peacefully, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Phil Harris of Tillsonburg passed away at the age of 92 years. Loving father of Colin from Richmond Hill and Mark (Suzanne) from Niagara on The Lake. Cherished grandfather of Mitchell and Blake.
Predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend Shirley Harris, his daughter Elaine Harris, sister Barbara "Jill" Constable and parents Wilfrid and Stella Harris from England.
Phil arrived in Canada from England in 1951 aboard the RMS Franconia and made his home and raised his family in Belleville, Montreal, and Ottawa before retiring to beautiful Tillsonburg 28 years ago. He quickly fell in love with the community and most of all the great people in this friendly town. Phil was actively involved with the Seniors Centre where he taught computer class among other things, as well as the Curling club and Model Airplane club to name a few of his favorites. He loved the get-togethers with his buddies at the local Tim Hortons to share a joke and discuss world and life happenings.
Special and sincere thanks to the Nurses and Doctors at the Tillsonburg Hospital for their caring attention in support of Phil and the entire community.
In keeping with Phil's wishes, cremation has taken place with private family arrangements. Memorial donations to Doctors Without Borders, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society, the Helping Hands Food Bank, or the charity of your choice may be made by contacting Ostrander's Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg, Ontario (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
