Obituary for Renate Rasokas (Kelm)
With great sadness the family of Renate Rasokas (nee Kelm) share that she passed away peacefully with her Family by her side on Monday June 6, 2022, in her 71st year, at VON Sakura House in Woodstock, Ontario. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Renate was born in Bergstemmen, Germany and came to Canada shortly thereafter with her family. They settled first in New England Corners, and then moved to their farm near Ostrander. Renate is survived by her husband and best friend Jerry. They enjoyed each other's company for the past 50 years and everyone who knew them saw the love and bond that they had. Loving Mother to her Children Dan (Kim) of Tillsonburg, and Andrew (Meaghan) of Kitchener. Proud and cherished Oma to Isabella, Aleah, and Cody. Also survived by her Sister Wanda Drew of London, and Brother Rudy Kelm of Straffordville. Predeceased by her parents Gustav Kelm and Leokadia Bethke, and Sister Ida Brammer. We will all miss barbecues by the pool, watching Blue Jay games together and Sunday dinners with our best friend, confident, partner in wine, and biggest supporter.
Renate was always a positive, energetic force who lit up the room when she entered. She was a best friend to so many people and truly loved and cherished all the relationships she had with her family, friends, and acquaintances. She spent many years working at Canada Trust, and then Tillsonburg Family Physicians. Renate loved cruising with Jerry in her convertible, spending time by her pool with Family and friends, cooking and baking for her family, knitting items for everyone she knew, wintering in Florida, dancing the night away, and volunteering at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.
In keeping with Renate’s wishes there will be a celebration of life July 24th at the Hungarian Hall in Delhi, Ontario at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations made in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society or VON Sakura House, Woodstock, http://vonsakurahouse.com/ are appreciated. Donations may be made directly, or by cheque through Ostrander Funeral Home, Tillsonburg ON who have been entrusted with Final Arrangements.
