(1930-2019)
On Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Richard Popp of Tillsonburg and formerly of Stratford, at the age of 89 years. Beloved husband of 64 years to Maria (Hohenwarter). Much loved father of Carolin Manoni (Robert), Dieter Popp (1984) and daughter-in-law Marianne Patterson (John). Adored grandfather of Lisa O’Reilly (Kevin), Tina Popp, Gregory Patterson, Andrew Patterson, Mikala Bart, Joe Manoni (Amanda) and Robert Manoni (LeeAnn). Fondly remembered by his great grandchildren; Ella O’Reilly, Jake O’Reilly, Silvia Manoni, Vincent Manoni, Gavin Manoni and Emerson Manoni. Also survived by brothers Robert (Helga), Rudi (Elisabeth) and Walter (Erna). Predeceased by his parents Raimund and Rosa (Noeth). In his younger years, Richard embraced sports and exercise as a way of life. He once had a missed opportunity to cycle in the 1952 Olympics. He continued to cycle with the Stratford Cycling Club 100 kilometers every Sunday well into his 70’s. He loved golfing, bowling and many active sports. Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Friday March 1, 2019 from 11:00 – 1:00 P.M. The Liturgical Service for Richard will follow at 1:00 P.M. Inurnment will take place at a later time. Memorial donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital (DIALYSIS UNIT) and would be appreciated by the family.
