Obituary for Robert "Bob" James Claringbold

ROBERT “BOB” CLARINGBOLD
JUNE 3, 1933 – JULY 24, 2020
Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous battle at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Friday, July 24, 2020, Robert “Bob” James Claringbold of Tillsonburg passed away at the age of 87 years. Bob was a dedicated employee of Livingston Export in Tillsonburg and Hagersville for 40 years, retiring as Plant Manager. He was a lifelong member and pillar of Bethel Church in Tillsonburg and served as treasurer for over 50 years. Bob had a deep concern for the needs of Third World countries and he and Myra made 35 mission trips to Guatemala, Bolivia, Peru and the Caribbean Islands to build schools, churches, medical facilities and homes. He also had a deep care for our community being one of the founding members of YFC ministry. The love of Bob’s life was Myra for throughout their 64 years of marriage. Bob found much joy in their 4 amazing children; Crystal Carle (Rod) of Abbotsford, B.C., Craig Claringbold, Dwayne Claringbold (Cindy) and Darryl all of Tillsonburg. Bob delighted in his grandchildren in their goals and accomplishments; Brodie Carle (Lindsay), Jadyn Carle (Michelle), Taylor Carle (Malcolm), Cody Claringbold, Scott Claringbold, Braden Claringbold, Jenna Claringbold, Ryan Claringbold, Megan Claringbold and 4 great-grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his brother-in-law Roger Scott, nephews Paul Luciani (Denise), Robert and Randy Adamson and niece Deb Metslaar (Dave). Babe, his Basset was added to his clan after his first Basset, Sadie. They were seen by many on their daily walks and nightly baseball games. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Aletha (Heath) Claringbold and sisters Jean Luciani (1960) and Lois Scott (2019). Bob was honoured with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award in 2012. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, story and joke teller- many will miss Bob’s ability to recall the old stories of Tillsonburg. Our grief is much lighter knowing Bob, Dad is now making Heaven his home with Jesus whom he served all his life.
