It is with heavy hearts that the family of Steve Munkacsi announce his passing on May 5th, 2021 in his 90th year. Steve passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side. Steve was a very kindhearted soul that cherished his family and friends. Everyone that knew Steve took delight in hearing his jokes and tales of adventure. Steve was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing with his friends and enjoyed hiking and exploring with his children and grandchildren. He was a great puzzle master and saw any form of puzzle to be a challenge that he would surely win. Born December 6, 1931 in Montreal, he grew up in Welland where he raised his two sons. He worked for 10 years at Marsh Engineering in Port Colborne and for 29 years at TRW in St. Catharines. Steve was predeceased by his wife and best friend Kathleen with whom he had a lifelong friendship as well as a blissful 29 year marriage. Together they traveled the world and shared many adventures. One of Steve’s favourite adventures was their trip to the redwood forest. Steve was a loving father of Richard and his wife Kathy and Tom (predeceased). Stepfather to Anita Gilvesy and Sandra Gilvesy (John). Cherished brother to Albert (Joyce). Adored grandfather to Richard (Iwey), Ashley (Patrick), Grant, Adrienne (Erin), Sasha (Ryan), David (Jill) and great-grandfather to Joy, Ben, James, Max, Aubrey, Nyla, Bennett, Oliver and Aiden. Steve was also predeceased by his parents Steve and Julia and his first wife Margo. For those of us lucky enough to have known this kindhearted soul, we will always remember his smile and the joy he brought into every room.
