Terry was my first crush when I was 14 years old. We use to travel by bus to Langton for free and skate at the arena there. I met Terry for the first time and I thought he was so cute! He was certainly a flirt and a charmer. But that was the only times I would see him on Saturdays at the arena as my step-father was so strict I could not imagine having a dating life. Well that did not stop Terry he somehow found out where I lived and proceeded to call my name outside our house! Needless to say my step-father was sooo mad he grabbed a hold of Terry and planned to pummel him. He told me later in life he got away. I told my father I did not know Terry because I did not want to see him hurt in any way!! I also was grounded for the rest of summer and could not go to the arena again! And classmates I went to school with wondered why I could not do any fun activities. I was the oldest of us four and the first to be blamed for things I did not DO. Eventually I was SHIPPED out to be with my real father in Alberta thank goodness! I eventually got married then divorced and came back to Ontario. I moved to Port Rowan over time and got to meet up with Terry once again. He was still the same ole' flirt and we talked a lot. I always enjoyed our friendship and was so shocked to hear he had passed from cancer. I lived in Simcoe for the past 18 years and only see people from Port Rowan when we cut our lots there. Terry I actually said I am sorry to you that you died of this horrible disease. I lost my mom to cancer and I had it too. No one deserves to die from cancer. Surely after all the money thrown into research there is still no real cure?? It boggles the mind. I will always remember your smile and happy spirit Terry!!! May your family and loved ones find comfort in knowing you were ONE OF A KIND!!! You rest in peace Terry. Your battle may be over but we will never forget you!!! Thanks for the memories!
