Peacefully at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Friday October 27, 2023, Thelma Florence Hadwen of Tillsonburg passed away at the age of 90 years surrounded by her family.

Thelma was born and grew up in King City. After graduating from high school, she trained at St. Joseph's Hospital in Toronto where she became a Registered Nurse in 1954. In the same year, she married Don Hadwen and stayed at home to raise her children in King City. In 1971, Thelma returned to work as a Registered Nurse and became Administrator/Director of Nursing at Maple Nursing Home. She was an active member of King City United Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. In 1988, Don and Thelma retired to Tillsonburg where Thelma became an active member of St. Paul’s United Church. Her love of singing led her to join the choir at St. Paul’s and to also join the Tillsonburg Senior Centre Singers.
