Obituary for Thomas Henry Slater
THOMAS HENRY SLATER
DECEMBER 13, 1935 – FEBRUARY 20, 2021
On February 20th, 2021, peacefully in his sleep with his family by his side, Thomas Henry Slater of Tillsonburg, passed at VON-Sakura House, Woodstock, Ontario at the age of 85 years. Tom was born December 13, 1935 in Derby, England to Doris and James Slater. Tom met the love of his life Joan (nee Smith) and they were married for over 59 years. Tom and Joan emigrated to Canada in 1967. Together they raised their boys and were proud parents to Darren Slater, and Gary Slater. Tom was a cherished grandfather to Victoria Slater; Mellisa Slater; Lee Slater; Rory Alvarez; and Luke Slater. He was blessed to become a Great grandfather to Milana and Amelia. Tom was the beloved brother of Irene Tinker; Dorothy Hall; Katherine Orme; James Slater; and David Slater. Predeceased by his parents James and Doris (nee Lewis), and his brothers Robert and Albert Slater. A Private Memorial Service will be held in Ostrander’s Chapel on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 1:00 pm and will be live streamed through the link provided by our website. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or VON-Sakura House Woodstock, by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted by the Slater family.
