Obituary for Winifred Carolyn Harper
WINIFRED CAROLYN HARPER (COLLINGS)
September 9, 1934 - November 26, 2023
Winifred Carolyn Harper (nee Collings) passed away peacefully, at Woodingford Lodge, Tillsonburg, on Sunday November 26, 2023 in her 90th year. Winifred is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Barrie Harper, three children David (Jennifer), Paul (Kim) and Kari (Scott). Cherished and loved grandmother to 7 grandchildren, Aimee, Mark, Michaela, Joshua, Rachael, Kylie, and Emma and will be forever remembered for her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Loving sister to Eleanor and Gwen. She is predeceased by her parents, Morley, and Marguerite Collings (Buchner).
Winifred was born in Courtland, ON, attended Teacher’s College in London and taught in Oakville as a primary teacher for 33 years. Winifred spent the bulk of her teaching years at the grade 3 level as well as providing her musical talents by leading school musicals and choirs. She was a devote Christian providing her service to many volunteer, prayer, and choir groups. Together with Barrie, they enjoyed many RV adventures across North America. As per Winifred’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be having a private graveside service at the Courtland Cemetery on Thursday December 7th. Friends are family are invited to Celebrate Winifred’s life on Thursday December 28th at Avondale United Church, Tillsonburg, at 10am for visiting with service beginning at 11am.
The Harper family are grateful to the staff of Woodingford Lodge, Tillsonburg, for the compassionate and excellent care they provided to Winifred over the past 8 years.
