Obituary

BRIAN GEORGE BLEAKLEY
JUNE 20, 1937- JUNE 4, 2020
We are sad to announce the passing of Brian- husband of 55 years to Brenda (Gledhill) and father to Eric and Ali (Steve). Affectionately nicknamed “Grumpy Grampa”no one could put a smile on his face like his grandchildren Anna, Athena, Max and Catie. He reveled in their ability to figure out riddles, hook bait, win pun wars and give as good as they got! There is hope for the future.
Brian will also be missed by his brother-in-law Rick (Barb), nieces Dana, Tracy and their families.
A giant thank you to all the CarePartners, especially the unfathomably patient nurses Kaitlyn and Sharon and the brave PSWs Cathy and Lorna. We couldn’t have got through this without you.
Those of you who knew him, know that he would have found all this very inconvenient.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date- until then raise a whiskey in his honour.

Dear Brenda:

So sorry to hear about Brian. You were wonderful neighbours and I miss you. I have been fortunate in finding another partner after John and have been especially grateful for that during this time away from family. You were blessed with many years together. I know it is a difficult time adjusting to life alone. May your many wonderful neighbours, your family and happy memories be a help to you now.

Big hugs Anna Childs

Dear Brenda, Alison and Eric, please accept my condolences on Brian's passing. I worked with Brian for over 30 years at the CCR laboratory, him being my direct Supervisor. I have many fond memories of the good times spent with Brian at the Lab. It was a pleasure to see him 5 years ago when he came to visit me in Montreal on my 70th anniversary. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time of grief.

We all change ho we look as we get older. However this photo and the description remind me of an schoolmate from Rosemount High School in Montreal. He always got after me about my girlfriend and tried to get a rise out of me. Sometimes it worked! But we did a lot of joking together. So if I am correct then i will raise a glass to those memories from long ago and wish Brian a proper RIP. You gave me a chance to remember better times when we were young and carefree. I married that girl and we raised three children together and now 7 grandchildren. But she died young. Memories!!
