After my mother died, my Uncle Brent started to text me regularly. We shared many silly stories and jokes over the years. We also shared our emotions when one or the other was awake in the middle of the night, thinking. We were a good help to each other. When my daughter was born, it was wonderful to have someone with whom to share my delight. He was genuinely interested in the minutiae that most people don’t care about. Because of that true affection for her, I was very happy that he and Aunt Anita, along with my dear friends, are her godparents. Every time she does something cute, I will have a bit of sadness that I cannot text about it to my uncle. Most people won’t understand the value of a text message, but the uncle that takes the time to text you to be a part of your daily life is a very precious thing and will be terribly missed.
